2000 ZX-6R Adjusting Idle

Warning

I am not a mechanic or a representative of Kawasaki or anything else official. This page is only my notes on doing this procedure myself. Although I believe what I have documented here is correct, I make no promises and you do this at your own risk.

Objective

Adjusting the idle speed on your bike is so simple it probably doesn't qualify as "maintenance" -- it's just a control.

Procedure

The idle adjustment control is on the left side of the bike, just in front of your left knee when you're riding.

The small black knurled knob shown here. Warm up the engine, choke off. Then adjust this control until the idle speed on the tach is what you want. My manual specifies 1200 RPM.
