FAHMonitor

Note: FAHMonitor is still available and supported, but another program, nFoldMan, is a newer generation of this service, with more capabilities. You might like to investigate nFoldMan too.

FAHMonitor is a simple program that displays the stats of one or two Mac OS X command-line (console mode) processes running Stanford's Folding@Home distributed computing client for protein folding.

This will work only on Mac OS X, with the console-mode (not the graphic) client. It's been tested only on Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) and 10.3 (Panther). 10.3 is the fully supported version. As of release 1.7, the program functions on 10.2 as well, with some small changes in the user interface.

Note that FAHMonitor doesn't control the client processes, it just monitors them. If you want to be able to start, stop, and pause multiple processes from within the application, see nFoldMan.

Version history:

1.8   Recognizes log info from the new Double Gromacs units.
Download version 1.8.
1.7   Support for Mac OS X version 10.2.8 (Jaguar) and higher.
Download version 1.7
1.6   Fix a bug introduced in 1.5. Also handle an error in the Stanford fah client -- it mis-spells February in the log file and this was confusing the date parser. Now handles the creative spelling.
Download version 1.6
1.5   Added File and Dock menu items to quickly open the Stanford web pages for your personal or team statistics.
(Removed due to a bug.)
1.4   Fixed a memory leak that would cause the program to slowly consume system memory.
Download vesion 1.4

1.3   Optionally checks periodically to see if FAH core processes appear to be running, and warns you if they are not. (I occasionally stop a process to get CPU for other tasks and then forget to restart it -- this reminds me.)
Download version 1.3
1.2   Remembers location of main window between invocations.
Download version 1.2
1.1   Progress bars are now reflected in the Dock Icon, so you can Hide the application and get basic feedback from the Dock. Also help file produced.
Download version 1.1
1.0   Remaining time estimate: parses the FAHlog.txt file and, if there is enough information in there to estimate the rate of progress, displays an estimated time remaining for the work unit.
Download version 1.0
0.5   "Cheap" progress indicator bars that optionally draw a simple flat filled rectangle rather than the pulsing, animated bar of the Aqua progress indicator. (Response to user concerns that the idling monitor was consuming 4-6% CPU and they wanted that CPU folding)
Download version 0.5.
0.4   Transparency option for main monitor window
Download version 0.4.
0.3   Display WU dates in local time, not GMT
Download version 0.3.
0.2   Hide second process window when being run in single-processor mode.
  0.1   Initial trial release
